CHU Sainte-Justine nurtures the vision of a Quebec where mother, child and adolescent health ranks among the best in the world.

With this in mind, it is intent on fulfilling its mission of advancing knowledge and applying new findings with faster and less invasive methods and devices aimed at disease prevention, prognosis and treatment and long-term follow-up starting at conception and gestation and continuing right through to adulthood.

The Annual Research Meeting of Graduate and Postgraduate Students at CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center is an event rich in discussion and knowledge sharing that draws about 300 participants, including researchers, students and research staff. This highly stimulating intellectual setting represents an ideal opportunity to network with people who have come together to talk about the progress of their work in various fields in these six research axes:

Bernard Thébaud M.D., Ph.D.

Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, University of Ottawa

Dr. Bernard Thébaud obtained his MD at the Université Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France in 1991. He trained in pediatrics and neonatology at the University Paris V in France, where he also obtained his MSc and PhD before completing a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Alberta. Dr. Thébaud is a clinician-scientist recruited to Ottawa from Edmonton in 2012 to accelerate the translation of stem cell-based therapies for lung diseases. He is a senior scientist with the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and a neonatologist with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), where he provides care to critically ill newborns. Dr. Thébaud studies the mechanisms of lung development, injury and repair in order to design new treatments for incurable lung diseases. Over the next five years, his research goal is to bring safe and effective cell-based therapies for lung diseases into the clinic to create improvements in patient outcomes.

Diplômé d’une Maîtrise en administration des affaires à la Kedge Business School, Thomas a travaillé à différents postes de gestionnaire et développeur d’affaires. Après avoir occupé un poste stratégique au sein d’une firme de conseil en ressources humaines à Montréal, il a rejoint le bureau de Montréal d’Adoc Talent Management à titre de consultant en recrutement de titulaires de doctorat. Directeur du bureau de Montréal, il intervient aujourd'hui en développement des affaires, gestion de comptes et de projets ainsi que sur des missions de chasse de tête pour différents centres et laboratoires de recherche.
Thomas animera le panel de discussions sur le passage au marché du travail après les études supérieures par d’anciens étudiants du Centre de recherche.
