Notice to all students, do not miss the conference at 9 a.m. by Dr Bruno PiedBoeuf, Director of the Reproduction, Maternal and Child Health axis at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval Research Center, who will talk to you about the career in research, whether for non-medical students or that of clinicians-researchers.

Then at 9:40 am, Dr Michel Lucas will present the VisezEau® intervention at school, changing gait to obtain different results.

Bruno Piedboeuf, MD, FRCP

Doctor Bruno Piedboeuf is a professor of pediatrics at Laval University and director of the Reproduction, maternal and child health axis at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval. He did his medical course, his residency in pediatrics and neonatology at the University of Montreal. After 3 years of additional training in molecular biology at the University of Rochester, he was recruited as a clinical researcher in 1993 at Laval University. A CRM and FRSQ Fellow, he directed a research laboratory focusing on lung development for over 15 years. He was for 9 years head of the pediatrics department at the CHU de Québec and director of the university pediatrics department at Laval University. He was subsequently Executive Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Laval University. Since 2018, he has been Director of University Affairs at the Ministry of Health and Social Services. He has held various positions on the steering committees of regional, provincial and national organizations and since 2009 has chaired the Mother-Child Sectorial Table which advises the MSSS on the organization of care for pregnant women and children in Quebec. Despite his administrative duties, he maintains an activity in clinical research and always supervises graduate students. For over 24 years, he has been actively practicing as a neonatologist at the Center Mère-Enfant Soleil of the CHU de Québec - Université Laval.

The VisezEau® intervention at school, changing your approach to obtain different results The one now nicknamed the "Robin Hood" is defined in two words, a positive catalyst. The establishment of the VisezEau® movement in different populations and the measurement of its effects on planetary health is the spearhead of its research program. As principal investigator, Dr. Lucas leads the VisezEau® intervention at school, a vast experiment deployed in 35 elementary schools in Quebec and which reaches 13,000 students, their families and school teams so that drinking water is not bottled becomes the choice par excellence to hydrate. Dr Lucas is Associate Professor in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine at Laval University where he teaches epidemiology and critical reading. He is a researcher at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval and a visiting researcher at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
