2023 CWSS Annual Meeting

On behalf of the Canadian Weed Science Society / Société Canadienne de Malherbologie, we wish to welcome you to our 2023 Annual General Meeting. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Managing Weeds through Seeds and Genes” and will be held at the Radisson Hotel Winipeg Downtown located at 288 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg MB R3C 0B8 on November 20^th to 23^th, 2023.

The conference organizers have developed an exciting program including graduate student presentations, concurrent oral and poster presentation sessions on weed management and related topics, and a symposium exploring harvest weed seed control and the use of genetic tools for weed management. Workshops include analysis of molecular data, publishing manuscripts including the role of AI in that process and preparing a submission package to PMRA.

Winnipeg is located on Treaty One Territory, the home and traditional lands of the Anishinaabe (Ojibwe), Ininew (Cree), and Dakota peoples, as well as the National Homeland of the Red River Metis. The junction of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers has a rich history as an important trading centre prior to the arrival of Europeans and Winnipeg was instrumental in developing the gateway to the west. Winnipeg is home to the Grain Exchange which once rivalled the largest markets in the world and now is a modern metropolis that hosts the Jets (NHL) and the Blue Bombers (CFL) sports organizations.

Some sight-seeing attractions include: The Leaf at Assiniboine Park, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the Forks, and the Royal Mint.
