UW GEG Symposium Room Block

Call 502-242-9597 between the hours of 8 am - 7 pm PST Monday through Friday and 10 am - 4 pm PST on Saturday and Sunday. Provide "UW GEG Symposium" as the group name.

Rates vary based on the time of booking, but the University Inn typically has lower rates than the Watertown, currently (as of Dec. 18, 2023) in the $136 plus taxes and fees / night range, with the discount.

All three hotels are about a 15-minute walk to our conference venue, the Husky Union Building.

For ground transportation between the airport and the University of Washington, we recommend using the Sound Transit Link Light Rail.

It takes about 45 minutes to travel from SEA-TAC to the University District.

If going straight from the airport to the conference venue, the Husky Union Building (HUB):

Exit the light rail at the University of Washington Station. From the UW light rail station to the HUB, it is about a 10 minute, 0.5 mile walk. The path heading up to the UW is slightly uphill.

If going from the airport to a conference hotel:

Exit the light rail at the U District Station. From the U District light rail station to a conference hotel, it is about a 0.1 - 0.3 mile walk along city sidewalks.

There is no formal dress code; simply wear whatever makes you feel confident as you meet with graduate recruiters, graduate students, faculty, and other undergraduates from across the country and/or present on your research! If you are looking for a specific touchpoint, "business casual" can serve as as a reference.

Do note that you'll be spending a lot of time on your feet and walking around within an air-conditioned space. Outside, the weather in Seattle in April is generally in the high 50's with chances of light rain.
