16th Gender, Work and Organization Conference
(GWO2026)

The Gender, Work & Organization community warmly invites everyone to the 16th Annual GWO Conference, which will take place from 8 to 10 June at Nazarbayev University, Astana, Kazakhstan.

This year’s theme — Voices at the Margins: Rethinking Gender, Labor, and Belonging — calls us to reimagine what counts as knowledge, whose experiences shape theory, and how gendered forms of labor and survival are produced under conditions of precarity, displacement, coloniality, and social transformation.

Grounded Stories. Global Conversations

Let’s rethink what counts as knowledge.

Let’s center the margins.

Across disciplines, scholars are questioning dominant knowledge systems — yet Eurocentric frameworks still define what is valid theory, whose labor counts, and whose stories are heard. Voices at the Margins invites us to reimagine these hierarchies and bring forward the wisdom of communities, movements, and thinkers often left out of mainstream narratives.

This conference brings together global and local scholars, artists, and practitioners to share grounded insights and open space for epistemic justice and feminist solidarity.
