Summer School on Epigenetics 2024 Montpellier

Welcome to the International Summer-School on Epigenetics

We are delighted to welcome you to Genopolys in Montpellier from July 15th to 19th, 2024.

This summer-school is designed to provide students and postdocs with up-to-date knowledge in the field of Epigenetics.

This will be provided from July 15th to 17th through lectures by ten experts in the field, oral presentations by participants as well as round table discussions. Emphasis will be on promoting interactions and discussions between participants and experts. July 18th will be a symposium day, similar to an international conference, with short presentations from the invited speakers and poster presentations by the participants. On the morning of July 19th, there will be direct interactions between participants and research teams in epigenetics from IGH (https://www.igh.cnrs.fr/en/) and IGMM (https://www.igmm.cnrs.fr/en/), two research institutes in Montpellier.

Invited speakers

Yuka Iwasaki

Laboratory for Functional Non-coding Genomics (Riken, Yokohama, Japan)

Yuki Okada

Laboratory of Pathology and Development; Epigenetics: Supporting proper transgenerational transmission of genetic information (IQB, Tokyo, Japan)

Mitinori Saitou

Mechanism of in vitro reconstitution of mammalian germ cell development (ASHBi, Kyoto University, Japan)

Hidetoshi Saze

Plant Epigenetics Unit (OIST, Okinawa, Japan)

Epigenetic Regulation of Gene Activity and Trans-generational Inheritance of Epigenetic Memory

Maud Borensztein

Epigenetic Reprogramming and Mammalian Development (IGMM, Montpellier, France)

Severine Chambeyron

Non-coding RNA, epigenetics and genome stability (IGH, Montpellier, France)

Pierre-Antoine Defossez

Dynamics and interpretation of DNA methylation in mammals (Epigenetics and Cell Fate, Paris, France)

Maxim Greenberg

Chromatin Dynamics in Mammalian Development (IJM, Paris, France)

Pablo Navarro

Epigenomics, Proliferation and the Identity of Cells - EPIC (Institut Pasteur, Paris, France)

Hervé Vaucheret

Epigenetics and small RNAs (IJPB, Versailles, France)

The summer-school is open to master and PhD students, and postdocs. Priority will be given to students. All participants will present both a talk and a poster.

If you are interested, please apply first (submission form); if selected, you will then be able to register.

Two types of applications are open:

- Applications for students and postdocs from Japan. The deadline is February 25th. Travel grants are available.

- Application for students and postdocs from Europe or other countries (with no restriction). The deadline is May 1st.

We will be able to host 10 participants from Japan and 20 from Europe or other countries.

If you need any further assistance or additional information, please feel free to ask!

The field of Epigenetics is rapidly growing, with constant novel insights in both molecular strategies to generate and read epigenetic marks, as well as the use of such properties to regulate cellular activities. The experts present during the four days of the Summer-school will document and explain various aspects of epigenetics, including DNA and histone modifications, and higher levels of organization in diverse organisms, including mammals (mouse and humans), drosophila and plants.
