The organizing committee is happy to welcome you to the Life Sciences Career Expo (LSCE) website! The LSCE is a hybrid (virtual and in-person), national, multi-day careers conference designed to bring together students and postdoctoral fellows with educators, researchers, industry partners and government stakeholders. These professionals have a shared common interest to educate the next generation of trainees about diverse careers.

Here you will find more information about the objectives of the event, the speakers and the schedule. You will also be able to explore the content and see the list of participants. You can also register and pay the registration costs directly through this website.

Session Descriptions:

Career Panels (Virtual)

Career panels will take place on Monday, May 1st and Wednesday, May 3rd with each career panel focusing on a different industry sector. The panels will consist of 3-4 speakers who will discuss their personal career journeys, current roles as well as responsibilities, and offer advice for a successful transition into the field.

Each session will have a moderated Q&A format with an opportunity for the audience to submit their questions in real-time.

Company Spotlight Presentations (Virtual)

Company-driven information sessions that are designed to provide the audience with insights surrounding topics, such as the organization’s mission and vision, company culture, and the opportunities available to get involved.

These presentations will take place in concurrent themed streams on Monday, May 1st and Wednesday, May 3rd. Within each stream, two companies will each have a 15-minute presentation, followed by an open networking session in breakout rooms.


Networking Roundtables (Virtual and In-Person)

Virtual: Day 2

The virtual component invites all attendees and professionals, to come together for an open-networking opportunity on Wednesday, May 3rd, 4:50 - 5:50 PM EDT. This will be an opportunity to meet new professionals and peers, and practice networking skills learned throughout the Expo!

In-Person: Day 3

The in-person component allows attendees and professionals to network with a variety of local professionals on Thursday, May 4th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM EDT at Hart House (University of Toronto's St. George Campus)!


Company Booths (In-Person)

Open networking opportunity for attendees to visit participating companies in a virtual as well as in-person setting throughout the conference. Each company will have a virtual profile on our event site as well as booth set-up during our in-person event Thursday, May 4th.


Resume Workshops (In-Person)

Hosted by the Career Exploration & Education Centre at the University of Toronto, these workshops will be personalized critiques of attendees' resumes. These sessions will take place in-person on Thursday, May 4th and will be a one-on-three opportunity for building the most effective resume for your job search!

Steps To Participate -

  1. Register for the-in person event on Eventbrite
  2. Complete registration on Paperform [Mandatory]
  3. Bring a hard copy of your resume to the event!

Practice Interviews (In-Person)

One-on-one opportunities on Thursday, May 4th, where attendees will have a practice interview with a University of Toronto Career Centre or a company representative. Each interview is 20 minutes long, where 15 minutes will be dedicated to the practice interview followed by 5 minutes of feedback.

Steps To Participate -

  1. Register for the-in person event on Eventbrite
  2. Upload your 1-page resume on Paperform [Mandatory]

Note - Only successful candidates will be contacted by LSCE prior to the event. Participating interviewers will have the opportunity to meet with up to three (3) successful candidates over the session.


Due to high demand, resume workshops and practice interviews are assigned on a first- come, first-serve basis.

When (and where) does it take place?

The Life Sciences Career Expo 2023 will take place over one week:

  • Monday, May 1 (virtual)
  • Wednesday, May 3 (virtual)
  • Thursday, May 4 (in-person - at the University of Toronto)

This is the virtual conference platform. All registrants should register and create their profiles on this platform to access virtual programming.

Note - Attendees are able to attend the virtual event only, the in-person event only, or both virtual and in-person events. Ticket purchasing and attendance is at attendee discretion.

Refund Policy

Please note that purchasing a ticket is a commitment to attending and cancellation on short notice denies registration to other attendees. Additionally, with each registration, the Organizing Committee incurred fees including and not limited to use of the digital platform and/or room rent and catering.

Partial refund (50%): offered up to 48h before the events: Saturday, April 29th EOD for virtual events, Tuesday, May 2nd EOD for in-person event.

No refund offered less than 48h prior to the event
