Hope in Action: Global Perspectives on the Future of Violence Prevention Moderator: Renee Fiolet RN PhD Panelists: Kamila Alexander PhD, MSN/MPH, RN, Associate Professor, Johns Hopkins School of Nursing Dr. Kamila A. Alexander is an Associate Professor and Director of PhD and Postdoctoral Programs at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, where she holds the Natalie and Wes Bush Rising Professorship. She leads the Threads Research Lab, focusing on how trauma and violence shape sexual, mental, and reproductive health in marginalized communities. A public health nurse scientist, she applies equity and justice frameworks to her work and is widely recognized for her leadership, including as a fellow of the inaugural Betty Irene Moore program for Nurse Leaders and Innovators. Te Wai Barbarich-Unasa PhD, Lecturer, Taupua Waiora - Centre for Māori Health Research, AUT. Te Wai is a Māori Health lecturer at AUT, dedicated to improving outcomes for whānau Māori through Kaupapa Māori research and practice. Her work amplifies rangatahi voices, challenges inequities, and co-develops tools for culturally safe care. Her research is rooted in equity, tino rangatiratanga (autonomy), and the aspirations of young Māori. Claire Gear, PhD, Senior Research Fellow, AUT University, Aotearoa New Zealand Claire is the Family Violence Research Lead within the Centre for Interdisciplinary Trauma Research at AUT University in Aotearoa New Zealand. She currently leads a programme of research that aims to improve primary care service delivery for those impacted by family violence, working in close partnership with local communities and lived expertise. Michelle Munro-Kramer PhD, CNM, FNP-BC, FAAN, Associate Professor & Director of Global Programs, University of Michigan School of Nursing Dr. Munro-Kramer researches gender-based violence prevention and response, focusing on college-age youth in both domestic and global settings. She develops innovative, nurse-led solutions to issues like intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Through the SUBVERT Network, she collaborates with universities in six sub-Saharan African countries to create evidence-based policies and interventions for university students.
