As Primary Care Providers in the North, we are a distinct group from our Southern Counterparts. The North of 44 Conference was designed to meet the holistic needs of the “generalist” nature of our practices with a respect for the geographic and various service models that make up our region.
We are also hoping to create a “Community of Learning” that includes our NOSM U learners, Academic and Community Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Multidisciplinary Health Professionals. This provides us with the opportunity to create a strong network for academic growth. It will inevitably create a dynamic and powerful social medical network that is an essential framework for the integrated medical community of the future.
Some of the topics being planned for this year's conference include: Bariatric surgery 101, Obesity management, The 5 things I wish I learned about death in medical training, Colorectal surgeon's approach to diverticulitis in 2023, CPAP and IPAP at home, HSN Outpatient Chronic Pain and Bariatric Clinics, Common dermatological issues, and updates in the prevention-diagnosis-treatment of lung cancer in the Northeast.
Learning Objectives
The following are the main learning outcomes that we hope will be achieved through this event. Following the conference, participants will be able to:
- Discuss updates on common guidelines for osteoporosis, and obesity medicine.
- Reflect on diverticulitis pearls from a general surgeon, palliative tricks for primary care.
- Recognize the less common skin conditions and approaches to management in primary care.
- Incorporate the best primary care practices for wound care, post-operative management of bariatric patients, and de-prescribing in geriatric patients.
