Northern Ontario Women's Health Conference

NOSM University and the Lakehead Obstetrics and Gynecology Local Education Group are pleased to invite you to the eighth annual Northern Ontario Women's Health Conference! At this in-person conference we will have the opportunity to learn and network with our colleagues who provide care in the region.

Our mission, as always, is to bring together remote, rural, and urban primary care providers to network and share information related to Women's Health in our region. This year's conference will bring together regional expertise, complimented with expertise from our tertiary care referral centres to discuss pertinent topics to our patient population.

FULL-DAY FORMAT! Conference content will focus on Gynecology in the morning sessions and Obstetrics in the afternoon sessions, with a warm-up session and welcome reception on Thursday evening.

  • Friday, November 21, 2024 Half Day or Full Day Conference at the Delta Hotel by Marriott

Who Should Attend

We invite all family physicians, specialists, midwives, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, allied health professionals, residents and medical learners to attend. We hope everyone will be eager to collaborate and learn together in person. See you there!


Program Learning Objectives

After this conference, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify common best practice approaches to the management of antepartum and intrapartum care. (Medical Expert, Scholar)
  2. Discuss common gynecological issues faced by women throughout their lifespan.(Medical Expert, Scholar, Health Advocate)
  3. Create a community of best practice for women’s health in Northwestern Ontario.(Communicator, Collaborator, Health Advocate)

Pre-Conference Clinical Workshop (Limited to 25 participants)
Insertion and Removal of Etonogestrel Subdermal Contraceptive Implant

Speakers: Dr. Ruthanne Williams & Dr. Laura Power

Upon completion of the Etonogestrel Subdermal Implant Clinical Training Program, learners will be able to:

  1. Determine appropriate patient population for the Etonogestrel subdermal implant use.
  2. Discuss risks and benefits of Etonogestrel subdermal implant device.
  3. Perform appropriate landmarking and insertion technique of the Etonogestrel subdermal implant device.
  4. Perform appropriate technique for removal of Etonogestrel subdermal implant device.

Pre-Conference Clinical Workshop (Limited to 25 participants)
Mastering Uterine Biopsy

Speaker: Dr. Amber Dudar

Upon completion of the Mastering Uterine Biopsy Workshop, learners will be able to:

  1. Discuss clinical indications for performing a uterine biopsy.
  2. Determine risks and benefits of uterine biopsy.
  3. Perform uterine biopsy.

  • RN, RPN, Allied Health $120.00

Pre-Conference Clinical Workshop: Insertion and Removal of Etonogestrel Subdermal Contraceptive Implant

  • $50.00 for any registrant

Cancellation Policy

Please find below the fees for cancellation. You will be refunded your registration fee less the amounts noted below.

  1. Up-to October 16th: $35.00
  2. October 17th to October 31st: $50.00
  3. November 1th to November 17th: No Refund
