McGill International Palliative Care Congress

We Meet Again!

After a four-year pandemic-induced hiatus, the 23rd edition of the McGill International Congress on Palliative Care will be held at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal, from October 18 to 21, 2022.

This major gathering of healthcare professionals and palliative care specialists from around the world has been hosted in Montréal every second year since 1976. Since the inaugural meeting attended by Cicely Saunders, Elizabeth Kübler-Ross and Balfour Mount, we are extremely proud of this tradition that has contributed to enhancing care for those confronted with terminal illness, and to the growth of this clinical field.

Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to meet, share experiences and exchange ideas with colleagues from across the country and around the world, representing all disciplines – nurses, physicians, social workers, pharmacists, psychologists, physical and occupational therapists, music therapists, chaplains/spiritual care counselors, administrators, volunteers...

The McGill International Congress offers it all: from galvanizing plenary speakers to in-depth workshops and seminars covering all aspects of end-of-life care, from the most current scientific developments in pain and symptom control to the large existential questions, to hands-on experiential sessions addressing everyday practical issues. All sessions are structured to allow ample time for dialogue, questions and thoughtful interaction.

As always, the Congress will offer a welcoming, inclusive environment where the clinical sciences are intertwined with the humanities, the arts, and the gift of compassion

Be part of the extraordinary individuals so deeply committed to their work with the dying and bereaved, and to the goals of relieving pain and suffering, enhancing quality of life and supporting healing and comfort at the end of life.

Congress Logo: The Hummingbird

The hummingbird has, in some Indigenous traditions, represented a messenger between worlds, helping to maintain balance between nature and spirit.

This tiny bird appears in Indigenous lore as a creature that opens the heart and teaches us to appreciate the magic of being alive. The hummingbird helps us awaken to the beauty of the moment.
