Step 1 - Validate that you are eligible

Step 2 - Choice of Research Project

See the research projects available in the "Projects" tab. You will be able to select up to 3 projects for which you would like to submit an application.

Step 3 - Submit your Application

Candidates can prepare their application file in French or English. The file must include the following elements:

  • Completed submission form (online), including a cover letter of maximum 500 words;
  • Scientific CV, including a list of publications;
  • Most recent transcript;
  • Postdoc: Copy of PhD diploma (if available).
  • Reference letter(s) (optional)

Submission of applications must be done via the online form. Note that the Research Center reserves the right to reject any file that is incomplete or does not meet the eligibility conditions.

Step 4 - Virtual Interviews

Applications will be sent to researchers when the competition ends. They will analyze the files received and contact the people they wish to meet in a virtual interview during March 2024.

Step 5 - Recruitment Event in Montreal

The candidates selected after the interviews will be invited to participate in an event at CHU Sainte-Justine, in Montreal, on June 26 and 27, 2024. The event includes a tour of the facilities, presentations of the research teams by the researchers, presentation of a scientific project by the candidates and participation in a networking activity organized by the Student Association.

Guests will be entitled to a mobility award and will have access to a advantageous rate for 3 nights at the Résidence de l’Université de Montréal (ZUM Auberge).

Step 6 - Confirmation of recruitment

Those selected will receive an offer of supervision from a research team in the days following the event.

Step 7 - Commitments of Selected Candidates

Those selected for a doctoral or postdoctoral project must commit to:

  • Ph.D. candidate: Submit an application for admission to a PhD program at the supervisor's affiliated university no later than February 1, 2025;
  • Postdoctoral fellows: Have made the final submission of the thesis and submitted an application for admission to the postdoctoral position at the supervisor's affiliated University no later than September 1, 2025;
  • Submit funding requests to granting organizations.

ℹ️ Note on postdoctoral fellow status: Postdoctoral fellows at the Centre de recherche Azrieli of CHU Sainte-Justine are "scholarship holders". They are considered researchers in training, and are not employees. They are funded in the form of scholarships, not salaries. However, postdoctoral scholarships are taxable - and taxes will be withheld at source. For more information, consult the Financing section of the Welcome Guide.
