REIXS Soft X-ray Spectroscopy Workshop
REIXS Soft X-ray Spectroscopy Workshop
The Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering Endstation (RIXS ES) on the REIXS beamline at the Canadian Light Source (CLS) specializes in photon-in/photon-out soft x-ray spectroscopy with a focus on material science. The beamline is capable of doing both X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray Emission Spectroscopy (XES) concurrently using soft x-rays with an energy range of 100 - 1000 eV. This allows one to study a vast array of elements from Boron to Lanthanum. While XAS is a standard technique available on most beamlines, XES requires a detector with energy resolution better than 1 eV making it less widely available. However, it is inherently directly related to XAS and provides more information than is possible with conventional XAS measurements alone.
This virtual workshop will show how incorporating XES measurements into your material science research program can significantly improve your understanding of your materials over relying solely on XAS measurements. The workshop will include the following aspects:
