Instructions for Presenters

Detailed instructions for Oral and Poster Pitch Presenters are below. Please note that we may modify the length or the oral and poster presentations based on the number of submissions to the event.

Oral Presentations:
Each presenter will have 13 minutes for their powerpoint presentation. Plan for ~10-11 minutes for your presentation which should cover an intro, hypothesis, methods, results, and conclusions. Leave ~2-3 minutes for questions. Note: all orals will be judged together - so remember to make your presentation ACCESSIBLE TO A BROAD AUDIENCE and AVOID JARGON. Explain all clinical terms (fellows: remember to explain diseases and clinical procedures). Explain all scientific methods (basic trainees: not everyone does flow cytometry, so remember to describe your experiments and methods clearly). Your talks will be judged by PIs from a wide range of backgrounds.

Poster Presentations:
During the poster session, each presenter will have 8 minutes to present their poster followed by a Q&A period.. PRACTICE THIS PITCH! The goal is not to read the poster, but to use this time to introduce yourself, your research, and your major outcomes in a succinct and clear manner. Remember to make your presentation ACCESSIBLE TO A BROAD AUDIENCE and AVOID JARGON.
Maximum recommended poster size is 45" wide x 45" high. If your poster is already printed with larger dimensions, please let us know. We have a limited number of poster boards and cannot accommodate many oversized posters.
