How will the virtual conference be held?

We recognize the invaluable role that conferences play in facilitating new social connections among researchers. To ensure that the conference provides ample opportunities for social interactions, conference attendees are invited to attend through a unique virtual Rotman Research Institute (RRI) space on the Gather platform, where you can interact with other attendees during social breaks using peer-to-peer video chat, visit sponsor exhibits, and connect to talks and poster sessions. The virtual RRI conference space is a place to meet with other conference attendees in a fun and immersive setting.

The main two-day conference will include four plenary sessions. Poster abstracts and accompanying content will be available to explore on this website one week prior to and following the conference. During the two live poster sessions, attendees will be able to connect with the presenting author using a video link directly from the poster’s page.

What are the technical requirements to participate in the conference?

To have the best experience, you will need a computer with a webcam, microphone, and keyboard, a strong internet connection, and either Chrome or Firefox browsers. Unfortunately, this platform is not supported on mobile devices (iOS or Android). If this requirement poses a problem for you, please contact conference@baycrest.org in advance to discuss potential accommodations.

How will I be able to access the conference content?

Once you register for the conference, you will be asked to create an account on the FourWaves platform (i.e., this website). Once you log in to this account, you will have access to all of the conference content.

When will I be able to access conference content?

The content from our poster presenters will be available on this site from March 15, 2023 until July 31, 2023. Our plenary talk sessions will be broadcasted at their scheduled time and will subsequently be available to view on demand until July 31, 2023.

What is the abstract submission deadline?

The deadline to submit your abstract is February 21, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Can I submit more than one abstract?

Yes, provided that you are not the presenting author on more than one abstract. As a reminder, all presenting authors need to be pre-registered for the conference.

When can I expect to hear if my abstract is accepted?

Acceptance decisions will be made by March 1, 2023. If accepted, you will be required to upload your poster presentation content by March 14, 2023. If your submission is not accepted, you will be able to cancel the registration and receive a full refund.
