Dear Québec-Ocean community,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM 2024) on February 6 and 7, 2024 at the Hôtel Universel in Rivière-du-Loup! It will be preceded by a Student Day from February 5 to 6.

In the year 2023, the oceans were not only the subject of exciting scientific discoveries, but also of growing environmental challenges. The first international treaty on the protection of the high seas was adopted at the United Nations to better protect the oceans and their integrity, which is vital to humanity. In Canada and Quebec, the national climate change research program "Transforming Climate Action" has placed the oceans at the heart of the scientific approach for the coming years. At the same time, unprecedented marine heat waves have been recorded all over the planet, from the equator to the poles, from the surface to the depths. Assessing the consequences of these upheavals is only just beginning.

This meeting is a unique opportunity to get together, review the latest discoveries, achievements and efforts of our members to understand and protect our oceans. We'll have the privilege of listening to internationally renowned guest speakers, who will share their latest discoveries and perspectives. We'll also have the opportunity to network with our peers in oral and poster sessions, as well as at social events. Student Day will also include a workshop on the data management application.
