Your advisor in science popularization

Scientific journalist for the Radio-Canada television series La Semaine Verte, Carine Monat is passionate about discoveries and new encounters. She is also a reporter for the ICI Radio-Canada Première radio show Moteur de recherche and worked as a journalist and/or scientific researcher for several media, such as Unpointcinq, Savoir Média, AMI-télé, la Gazette des femmes, Quatre-temps et Télé-Québec. She is very devoted to empowering women in Science, through her podcast 20%, which she created with Québec Science and Acfas, and through her role in a Canadian Web series produced with the National Film Board. Furthermore, she animated for six years the radio show L’œuf ou la poule on choq.ca, which she founded. She likes to emphasize that knowing is not understanding.

Carine completed her PhD in Molecular Biology at the IRCM, in the laboratory of Dr. Michel Cayouette. Her presentation at the 2016 Quebec Finals of the competition My thesis in 180 seconds, organized by Acfas, received the First Prize of the Jury and the Prize of the Public.

The IRCM Technology Transfer Office works closely with our researchers, members of the industry, and life sciences investors to identify opportunities and commercial applications for their research and create successful and mutual partnerships, ranging from collaborations, licences and research contracts to the creation of start-ups.

Anne-Marie Alarco, Director of valorization, completed her PhD in Molecular Biology at the IRCM, in the lab of Dr. Martine Raymond, and then pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at the Biotechnology Research Institute of the National Research Council Canada.

Peiman Shooshtarizadeh, Technology Transfer Officer, completed his postdoctoral training at McGill University and then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the Montreal School of Higher Commercial Studies (HEC).
