Request for Sponsorship

To strengthen the African Meteorological Society (AfMS) and contribute to the capacity building efforts in Africa, the AfMS, IFMS and EMI are organizing their First Joint Conference during April 20 - 23, 2026.  This event requires adequate funding not only for running the Conference but also for supporting travel and stipends for qualified early-career professionals and students who cannot be supported by their organizations.  Keeping in mind the modest financial capacity of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) of African Countries, we are requesting the international community, including the NHMSs of affluent countries, for help with sponsoring the Conference according to their ability and interest in helping capacity building in Africa.  We encourage the strong National Meteorological Societies around the world to follow the example of the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) and the American Meteorological Society (AMS) who are already contributing financially to this Conference. We also request the Aid Agencies of Affluent countries, Philanthropic Organizations,  benevolent individuals and private industry, and International Agencies interested in building Capacity in Africa to seriously consider sponsoring this very important Conference, which can open new opportunities to enhance global sustainability and climate resilience.
