What is a hybrid conference?
A hybrid conference is one that combines a “live” in-person event with a “virtual” online or remote component. For CACBT-ACTCC’s 15th Annual Conference, we offer in-person attendance of all sessions, as well as online attendance through the Fourwaves platform. The Fourwaves platform also offers other features, including information about our speakers, our venue, virtual posters, and chat features.
How do I make the most of a hybrid conference?
If you are joining us virtually, we recommend that you take a few extra minutes to explore the Fourwaves platform and its various tabs and functionality. Check out the Speakers and Schedule to see details about the leaders in the field we have leading each session, and to review important information about Continuing Education (CE) credits. When the event is live, you will be able to access handouts and the evaluations to be completed at the end of each session for CE credits. Check out the Poster Hall to see the virtual posters and to connect with presenters, and make sure to visit the Participants and Event Chat to connect with your colleagues!
If you are joining us in person, we encourage you to create a Fourwaves profile to connect with virtual attendees as well - similarly to access the schedule and handouts before and during the conference. Then simply show up in person with a mobile device (phone, laptop, or tablet) to use the platform to complete the evaluations for your CE credits!
To receive CE certificate(s) at the 2025 CACBT-ACTCC hybrid conference, attendees must:
· Attend the session in full (no partial credits awarded);
· Attend the conference in real time (CE credits will not be provided if you watch the recorded version); and
· Complete the post-workshop evaluation with the session specific code (the link and code will be made available at the end of each session). Note that the evaluations must be submitted before the end of the conference (May 3, 2025 at 8pm MDT).
You will be able to access your CE certificate(s) via the CACBT-ACTCC portal within six weeks of the conference.
Note: The Canadian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapies has approval by the Canadian Psychological Association to provide continuing education credits for those keynotes, workshops and clinical skills trainings that are indicated on the schedule with the symbol. The CACBT maintains responsibility for the program.

About the format:
An ‘Open Paper’ is a presentation on a clinical and/or research topic with a typical time allocation of 12-15 minutes.
Open paper is where participants submit their individual talk on a piece of your research or service-related work. If talk is accepted, the committee groups together talks to be presented together as a symposium. If not accepted to Open paper, the same abstract can be used for the Poster session.
For sessions of 90 minutes with 5 speakers, each speaker has been instructed to prepare a 15-minute presentation; each speaker has been instructed to prepare a 12-minute presentation. This should allow a couple of minutes for questions and changing speakers in between each presentation, but only if the session starts on time, and it is still quite a tight schedule.
Open papers that are accepted will be grouped together by the to form symposia of 90 minutes. An open paper may therefore be a suitable format for someone who wishes to give a talk in a symposium but is not part of a submitted symposium and does not wish to convene a whole symposium themselves.
Open papers can be submitted by anyone at any stage of their clinical or research career, and submissions from experts by experience are also very much encouraged. Open papers are a very popular format with limited space and can be competitive.
If the Open paper includes a study for which there is information publicly available such as published paper, pre-registration or protocol it can be very helpful to include one key reference and a link in the abstract to help demonstrate the quality of the submission and to help conference delegates find further information.
All open paper presentations will be delivered live and in person, and all presenters are required to pay the registration fee for the conference
