Welcome to the Unifor Family Education Centre in Port Elgin
Port Elgin, located on the eastern shore of Lake Huron, is located in the traditional territory of the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation and the Chippewas of Saugeen First Nation. The area has been important for hunting and fishing for thousands of years and permanent settlement in the area can be dated back to the 1300s. After European settlement, the natural harbour in Port Elgin provided a connection for the railway and steamships transporting goods and people.
The harbour is surrounded by beaches with shallow waters and white sand that have attracted tourists for almost two centuries.
The meeting is located at the Unifor Family Education Centre. We have reserved guest rooms, dining, and meeting rooms at the site. Computer workstations are available, childcare can be arranged, and after-hours activities are available on site.
Room and board rates include three meals a day, commencing with dinner on the day of the check-in and ending with a bagged lunch on the day of check-out.

Port Elgin is about a 10-minute drive from the Unifor Family Education Centre. Additional accommodations can be found in town as well as other options for dining and after-hours activities.
Transportation
Port Elgin is about 3 hours from Lester Pearson International Airport in Toronto and about 4 hours from Detroit Metro Airport in Detroit, Michigan USA.
Public transit is available to travel all, or part of the way from Lester Pearson International Airport to Port Elgin.
