Connecting Knowers, Doers, and Learners!

The CPPCL Collective's fourth annual Parks and Protected Areas Research Network eSummit combines online sharing and collaboration with interactive nature breaks and a year-long webinar series to bring together Knowers, Doers, and Learners!

Our goal is to narrow the gap between research and action by sharing interdisciplinary knowledge and build an inclusive, intergenerational, collaborative network of parks and protected areas organizations and individuals.

The eSummit invites scholars and knowledge keepers (Knowers), government, Indigenous, non-profit, and community organization practitioners (Doers), and students, researchers, or new hires (Learners) to join us for four half-days of plenary presentations, panels on related themes, snapshots of research-in-progress and research needs, nature-breaks, and virtual tea talks to connect in small groups with peers from your region.

The 2024 program already includes over 30 exceptional presentations from nearly 50 different government agencies, non-profit organizations, universities, industry, Indigenous conservation leaders, including:

• Who visits Canada’s parks? Preliminary findings from a national study of perceived barriers and enablers to accessing Canadian protected and conserved areas

Special Sessions on Conservation Financing (Plenary Series)

Thanks to a collaboration with the Canadian Council for Ecological Areas (CCEA), CPPCL is pleased to offer a stream of plenary speakers to present on Conservation Financing With a Special Focus on Parks and Protected Areas. Planned topics include:

• An Overview of Conservation Financing in Canada and Beyond
• Private Land Conservation
• Coast Funds and Project Finance for Permanence
• Canadian Park Agencies Funding Models

These sessions are open to all eSummit attendees and will guide a face-to-face CCEA workshop in late March on "Systems and Management Planning with Conservation Finance in Mind"

As a virtual event, the eSummit helps reduce our carbon footprint and increase accessibility for participants. All sessions are offered with simultaneous French/English interpretation.
