Jean Talon Conference Room, Statistics Canada, Ottawa
May 25-28, 2026

Welcome to the event website

The Canadian Population Society (CPS) and l’Association des démographes du Québec (ADQ) invite you to participate in the 2026 special joint conference to be held at Statistics Canada headquarters in Ottawa from May 25-28th. This year’s conference is a special event, the first fully joint CPS-ADQ conference in over 10 years, and hosted for the first time at Statistics Canada. The conference program welcomes submissions on a broad range of subjects, and aims to promote a vibrant exchange among researchers, students, and public servants about topics in demography, population dynamics, and socio-economic trends.

Meeting format: The 4-day conference will take place from May 25-28, 2026. Each day will consist of several regular sessions of 75-90 minutes (3-4 presentations followed by questions and discussion) and thematic sessions or panel discussions. Presentations will be in-person, and hybrid access will be available for remote audience members. Participants are encouraged to attend in-person to take advantage of networking and social events, such as the poster session and the banquet (Day 2, May 26). Sessions are bilingual to foster exchange across the English and French demographic communities, and presentations may be given in either official language.
