Dyspnea Forward, 2025

August 19-20, 2025

Welcome

The organizing committee is happy to welcome you to Dyspnea Forward 2025. Here you will find more information about the objectives of the event, the speakers and the schedule.

Registration is free to Dyspnea Society members and $35 USD for non-members. You can join the society or renew your annual membership here.

You will also be able to explore the content and see the list of participants. You can also register and submit an abstract directly through this website.

Objectives

Here are the main objectives of the event:

  1. Identify key contemporary issues in dyspnea science.

  2. Explore the importance of effective translation across the domains of measurement, management, and mechanisms—spanning multiple levels of scientific inquiry.

  3. Discuss the opportunities and challenges that early-career researchers may encounter when integrating multiple scientific perspectives and establishing cross-disciplinary collaborations within their research programs.

  4. Frame the current/future landscape of dyspnea research, including major conceptual, clinical, or methodological shifts.

Abstract Criteria & Submission

All submissions must relate to the mechanisms, measurement, or management of dyspnea.

Abstracts must include a title (maximum 150 characters including spaces) and a body of no more than 250 words. Submissions should clearly include: background, hypothesis or objective, methods (if applicable), anticipated or current results, and significance or conclusion.

Selected abstracts will be invited for presentation. Presentations will be a 5-minute oral talk followed by a 5-minute Q&A with the audience and/or expert panel.

Applicants may optionally submit up to two figures, combined into a single PDF or image file.

Submitted work must not have been previously published. Projects that are ongoing or in progress will be prioritized, including study protocols and retrospective or secondary analyses.

Evaluation Criteria

Abstracts will be evaluated by members of the organizing committee and reviews will be based on:

  • Scientific merit and methodological rigor

  • Relevance to dyspnea research (mechanisms, measurement, or management)

  • Clarity, organization, and quality of writing

  • Stage and status of the work (preference for early-stage or ongoing projects)

  • This call is open to all, but priority will be given to student and trainee submissions.
