INSTRUCTIONS & TYPES OF SUBMISSION

There are five types of submission. Please read below to determine which is most appropriate for your submission.

1. Symposia (clinical and scientific) include presentations by 4 individuals organized around a particular theme or topic. The time is 90 minutes and will be allocated a slot based on availability. A general abstract and all supporting abstracts must be included in the submission. The general abstract must include a description of the topic and purpose of the symposium, a statement of the significance of the topic, and a brief overview of each paper. For each individual presentation abstract must be included the submission in pdf format (upload abstract). Each supporting abstract should include: Title, Background, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion. Presenters are encouraged to provide or discuss techniques that address some aspect of implementation, dissemination, training or research within DBT. Symposium coordinators should collect individual abstracts from co-presenters to facilitate the writing of the general abstract and enable submission process.

2. Workshops/Skill Class provide opportunities for individuals to share professional practice strategies through demonstrations and practice experiences for participants. Workshops must provide opportunities for audience interaction and participation. Presenters are encouraged to demonstrate or discuss techniques that address some aspect of DBT and clinical work. Workshops 90 minutes, although time will be determined by the availability of slots. Workshop abstracts must include: a statement of specific learning objectives, teaching methods, specific techniques, and a description of materials that will be shared with workshop participants. Abstracts submitted without these components are likely to be rejected.

3. Individual Presentations are single speaker presentations on research and applied topics. Presenters are encouraged to present or discuss techniques that address some aspect of implementation, dissemination, training, or research within DBT. Each submitted abstract should include: Title, Background, Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion Presentations are limited to 15 minutes, with 12 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for questions. Presentations will be combined with other presentations on similar topics in blocks of 90 minutes.

4. Roundtable Discussions provide an opportunity for attendees to hear experts on a particular topic or issue. These discussions are intended to allow for a discussion of views in a format that is less didactic than symposia, workshops, and lectures. Presenters should present or discuss techniques that address some aspect of implementation, dissemination, training or research within DBT. Panels should have no more than 5 speakers, including the moderator. Submission abstract should include: Title, Speakers, Rationale and Agenda of the discussion. Panels will be 90 minutes in length and will include an opportunity for audience interaction.

5. Poster sessions allow for the presentation of research, applied materials and/or techniques in DBT in an atmosphere that encourages interaction with those who come to view the posters. Both individual and group research poster presentations are encouraged at the Congress. The submission must include the following sections: Title, Authors, Abstract: Background, Methods, Results, Supporting Graph or Table, Discussion and Conclusion. While posters will be displayed throughout the day, interactive poster sessions will last 90 minutes and it is expected that the presenter of a poster will be present for the full 90 minutes. Multiple posters dealing with different components of the same research study are strongly discouraged. Poster size is standard A0 (841 mm x 1189 mm, 84.1 cm x 118.9 cm or 33.1 inches x 46.8 inches).
