From June 5th to 10th, discover the legendary joie de vivre of our French-speaking community and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of La Vieille Capitale, while Université Laval’s Library welcomes the 28th Polar Libraries Colloquy.

The conference will focus on contribution of librarians and archivists to the sharing of northern and polar cultures and knowledge.

For members who cannot attend PLC 2022, we are summarizing the sessions so that you can see what's happening in day-by-day in Quebec City.

The event will be an excellent opportunity to:

- Showcase the work of renowned researchers in northern or arctic studies.
- Address the issue of metadata decolonization in a special workshop.
- Discuss various issues related to the management of research data for polar studies in a panel session.
- Introduce participants to the culture of Indigenous and non-Indigenous of northern Quebec.


- Make you discover:

- The beautiful Old Quebec, a UNESCO World Heritage treasure
- The Plains of Abraham, the site of the Battle of Québec in 1759
- The magnificent Charlevoix area, one of the most beautiful holiday regions in Quebec

Update on the Health Situation

- The conference will be held in person, in accordance with the sanitary measures put in place by Laval University.
- The Quebec City area is among the regions in the province of Quebec and in Canada where the rate of adequately vaccinated people is the highest (93%).
- The organizing committee is closely monitoring the health situation and will keep the participants informed of any new health measures that may be implemented.
- Registration is currently open.

Polar Libraries Colloquy

Founded in 1971, the Polar Libraries Colloquy is an invaluable showcase for librarians and other experts involved in collecting, preserving and disseminating information, and allows to discuss mutual interest and promote initiatives leading to improved collections and services.
