Meet our keynote speaker

We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Anne Jungblut to the 2022 Sentinel North Scientific Meeting. Dr. Jungblut will be presenting "Putting Arctic Microbiomes on the Map: Genomic Diversity, Function and Climate Change" during a special plenary session on Wednesday, October 26.

Dr. Anne Jungblut is a researcher in the Life Sciences Department of the Natural History Museum of London. She studies microbial diversity, ecology and evolution in freshwater, in particular cyanobacteria and microbial mats, and soil ecosystems in the polar regions to better understand and predict the response to environmental change using DNA sequencing, microscopy and culture isolation techniques. Her field work has brought her to the Canadian Arctic as well as South Georgia Island and the ice-free deserts of the McMurdo Dry Valleys in Antarctica. She also uses historic museum collections from the heroic age of polar exploration including Captain Scott’s Discovery Expedition.
