This session will look deeper into contemporary and cross-disciplinary methods for co-design. This interactive discussion will include learnings from multiple case studies as well as some practical insights into progressing the way co-design is conducted.

This session will feature four real-world examples of how implementation science has been used to assist in implementing and evaluating new models of care within a health setting. Case studies will include projects in aged care/hospital avoidance, community mental health, and implementing digital health within an acute setting.

With extensive experience in using implementation science when working with priority populations, this panel will showcase a range of programs where stakeholders are working with people in local communities to improve trust and health equity, address power imbalances, and transform leadership. We will hear case studies from mental health, community refugee, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led projects that will help in rethinking the factors influencing successful implementation.

Health budgets are tighter than ever, but effectively implementing new cost-effective models of care (or even harder, de-implementing inefficient or outdated models of care) can cost time and money. In this workshop session you will learn how to use two practical toolkits that have been designed to help health professionals identify and de-implement low-value models of care, and genuinely determine how much implementation costs so it can be properly incorporated into budgets and economic evaluations.

This session will explore how to build capacity and capability for implementation within healthcare. We will focus on both research and clinical capacity building, with examples from the public and private sector, including communities of practice in Allied Health, conjoint appointments, co-designed post-graduate education, and Implementation by stealth! We’ll also hear from Greg Aarons how the US are approaching this.

Expert speakers from NSW, Victoria, and Queensland Health will share candid insights on both successes and failures in driving policy and its implementation, revealing valuable lessons learned. By examining the full spectrum of experiences, from triumphs to setbacks, we will explore how a range of implementation approaches and related strategies can facilitate effective policy and bridge the policy-to-practice gap, driving meaningful and lasting change in health outcomes.
