A. Prisma Health, Clinical Research Management Office: The Clinical Research Management Office (CRMO) provides comprehensive support to Prisma Health researchers, staff and departments involved in clinical research and for sponsors seeking to conduct clinical trials at Prisma Health facilities and with Prisma Health Patients. The CRMO supports the operational requirements for conducting research at Prisma Health. for clinical trials research. The office serves as a central resource for execution of research contracts, Data Use Agreements, study budgeting and billing as well as other agreements and activities that require institutional approval. Prisma Health researchers, staff and departments involved in clinical trials research and for sponsors seeking to conduct clinical trials at Prisma Health.

B. Prisma Health, Human Research Protection Program & Institutional Review Board: The Prisma Health Office of Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) is responsible for the protection of human subjects engaged in research at all Prisma Health sites. The Institutional Review Board (IRB)is a component of the HRPP and is responsible for the review and approval of al research conducted at Prisma Health. The HRPP is registered with the Office of Human Research Protection and is accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection. is responsible for reviewing all proposed research projects that involve Prisma Health patients or employees. The Prisma Health Institutional Review Board (IRB) is guided by applicable laws, regulations, and principles in its review and conduct of Human Subjects Research.

C. & D. Prisma Health, Upstate Clinical Research Units: The Prisma Health Cancer Center Institute, the Addiction Medicine Center, the Clinical Research Unit- Upstate and Clinical Research Unit- Department of Medicine offer interested investigators across multiple disciplines the opportunity to conduct clinical research. These research teams consist of research nurses, research coordinators, regulatory coordinators, research managers and directors with experience in industry sponsored clinical trials, grant funded studies and investigator-initiated studies.

E. Prisma Health, Midlands Clinical Research Unit: The Midlands Clinical Research Unit is the multispecialty clinical research arm of the Prisma Health Education and Research Institute for the region. Offering support for adult and pediatric clinical research as well as a dedicated cardiology team, the team includes: 11 Research Nurses, 6 Research Coordinators, a manager for each of the 3 teams, a dedicated Investigational Pharmacist, and a Regulatory Coordinator. The Medical Director of the unit is Dr. Helmut Albrecht who is available to assist new and established investigators. The Prisma Health research team is dedicated to collaborating with Prisma Health clinicians and academic partners to advance scientific knowledge and improve healthcare outcomes & quality of life for the residents of South Carolina.

F. Prisma Health, Office of Research Services: Prisma Health has administrative offices to support regulatory, grants, and data access related to research. All are committed to the highest professional and ethical standards in the conduct of research and related activities. Speak to members from the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), the Data Support Core (DSC) and the Office of Research Policy and Education (ORP&E).

University of South Carolina, School of Medicine Greenville, Patient Engagement Studio: The Patient Engagement Studio (PES) is a resource for all within the Academic Health Sciences Center that conducts research, continuous quality improvement and innovation that impacts patients and other stakeholders within the health system. The studio provides a structured opportunity for patients, community stakeholders, physicians and academic researchers to collaborate in planning, conducting and disseminating results of research projects and health system innovations.

M. University of South Carolina, School of Medicine, Research Education Program: The NIH R25 Research Education Program, supported by a five-year, $1.8 million grant from the National Institute on Aging, is designed to enhance workforce diversity in STEM fields. This program prepares underrepresented racial and ethnic minority students for graduate programs through hands-on research experience and academic enrichment.

Participants engage in an 8-week summer program focused on biomedical research in aging, guided by expert faculty. The program includes professional development workshops, science/journal club meetings, and networking opportunities with scholars and researchers. In addition, participants receive training in key academic skills such as time management, exam preparation, and anxiety management, along with individualized mentoring for career advancement.

Students will have the opportunity to present their research at a symposium or professional conferences, and produce abstracts and manuscripts based on their work. The program provides a stipend, per diem, and travel funds for conference participation, ensuring a comprehensive and supported research experience.

N. O. The Resident Fatigue Study: The Resident Fatigue Study is currently recruiting PGY-1 physicians at Prisma Health-Upstate to participate in a study assessing physiological and mental fatigue mitigation strategies while working demanding schedules. Findings from this study will identify ways in which residency programs can cultivate a work environment that best supports their physicians.

P. Prisma Health, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Research Team: Pediatric Hematology/Oncology research team will provide hemophilia and sickle cell information to bring awareness to these blood disorders.
