The Poster Session will be April 8, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm and will be held virtually.
Who Can Judge
We welcome all graduate students, post docs, faculty, and staff from all participating PNW LSAMP institutions — and anyone with professional expertise — to volunteer as judges.
How to Sign up to Be a Judge
When you register for the virtual PNW LSAMP conference you will be asked if you would like to be a judge. Simply respond “yes”. You will then be asked which category you would like to judge in. You will be able to select either 1) physical sciences, engineering, mathematics, and computer science, or 2) Biological sciences. You will then receive a registration confirmation. You will need to go to the very bottom of that email and access the link that will allow you to activate your account. It is as simple as that.
Time Commitment for Judging
You will be assigned 2-4 posters to judge. You should review your posters prior to the actual poster session at a time that is convenient to you. The actual poster session is from 4:00 pm – 5:15 pm on Friday, April 8. Your scores need to be turned in by 6:00 pm following the poster session.
Access to the Posters
All judges must register for the PNW LSAMP Conference to have access to the posters and student presentations. After you register you will receive a confirmation of registration from Fourwaves, our virtual venue for the event. You must activate your Fourwaves account via this registration confirmation email by going to the bottom of the email and accessing the link to the account activation page.
In Advance of the Event
You will be assigned 2–4 posters to judge. Please review the posters assigned to you prior to the start of the poster session. You can expect to have access to view posters by the start of the PNW LSAMP Conference by visiting our Posters page. You will be able to view all student posters, not just the one’s assigned to you, during this time.
Poster Session
The poster session will be held on April 8 from 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm. Students will be present at their posters during this time so you will be able to ask them questions. The judging rubric can be viewed below.
Judging Ballots
Student presentations will be evaluated using ballots hosted on the RocketJudge platform. For each presentation that you have been assigned, you will provide scores and feedback through RocketJudge. A link to your ballots will be sent to your registration email. All judging ballots must be completed by 6:00 p.m. That is, ballots will automatically close at 6:00 p.m. and their contents will be considered “submitted” by the RocketJudge system.
RocketJudge is a web app that will work on either your computer or mobile phone. You may also review the judging rubric with a score sheet online. RocketJudge allows you to provide your valuable and insightful personal notes and suggestions to presenters directly in the ballot, and these comments will be forwarded to the student after the event. Students will not, however, be shown their individual numerical scores.
