Keynote Speakers
The following lecturers have been invited:

Nicholas' clinical practice includes ablative and reconstructive surgery for the head and neck with a special interest in bone sarcomas and functional outcomes following reconstructive surgery. His clinical practice also includes surgical treatment of salivary gland tumours as well as thyroid surgery. Nicholas' research interests include applications of “tissue engineering” in head & neck reconstruction. Nicholas is a founding member of the “Centre for Reconstructive Surgery” at University College London and holds a Senior Lecturer post at the same Institution. He is also a member of the “Face Transplant Group” based at Royal Free Hospital aiming to perform the first face transplant in the UK. He has joint research projects in the Nanotechnology Lab of UCL on “tissue engineered bio-scaffolding” aiming to replace defects of the head and neck with tissue- engineered based micro-vascular flap reconstruction. The FORTE flap is a paradigm to this direction. Nicholas lectures regularly at national and international meetings and he is the President of the European Association for Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery (EACMFS).

Dr. Vladimir Machon is a leading oral and maxillofacial surgeon based in Prague, specializing in advanced reconstructive procedures, TMJ pathology and implantology. He is known for his expertise in handling complex cases, often collaborating with international research groups. Dr. Machon practices at a prominent medical facility, contributing both as a clinician and a consultant in surgical innovations.

Dr Zavattero studied medicine and specialized in oral & maxillofacial surgery in Torino. He obtained a PhD in applied technologies in surgical sciences and is adjunct professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin, School of Bioengineering. He devides his interests between patient specific implant surgery, preprosthetic surgery, trauma and orthognathic-orthofacial surgery.

Dr Vaira specializes in advanced oral surgery, implantology and pre-prosthetics; plastic and aesthetic surgery of the face, treatment of temporomandibular disorders, cervico-facial oncology, treatment of nasal pathology and paranasal sinuses.

Dr Nicolaou specializes in orthognathic surgery and treating craniofacial syndromes. She collaborates with the Cyprus Center for Clefts & Facial Deformities (MEDICLEFT), working with a team to provide comprehensive care.

Dr. Krzysztof Dowgierd is a research professor in Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Warmia and Mazury. Trained in medicine and dentistry, he specializes in maxillofacial, reconstructive, and orthognathic surgery. Since 2008, he has led the Craniofacial Center for Children in Olsztyn, pioneering a multidisciplinary treatment model. He has trained internationally in Belgium, France, the USA, and Switzerland. His research focuses on virtual planning, TMJ prostheses, and microsurgical reconstruction. He has published extensively and reviews for scientific journals. A dedicated educator, he mentors PhD students and organizes conferences. He is an active member of leading surgical societies. Awarded the Bronze Cross of Merit, he continues to advance craniofacial surgery with innovative techniques.

Haye H. Glas studied Technical Medicine at the University of Twente. Specializing in Medical Imaging and Interventions, he earned his master’s degree in 2017. He then joined the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at UMCG as a technical physician. His research focused on 3D virtual surgical planning. During his PhD, he became a 3D specialist, with a focus on oncology, orthognathic treatment, and augmented reality. He co-founded the Clinical Network Northern Netherlands. Currently, he provides 3D surgical planning services through his company, 3D VSP.
