Reef Fish ID and Survey Methodologies – What’s Appropriate and Where?

Join Lad Akins in an interactive discussion on strengths and weaknesses of common reef fish survey techniques and how to identify those pesky little damsels, wrasses and juvenile parrotfish (and a few other not pesky fish).

Telling Your Research and Conservation Story

Learning how to tell the story of your research and why it is important is an integral skill for a scientist or conservation practitioner, but it's not always easy. Join Cassie Freund, Director of Science Communication, to learn how to communicate your coral research in an accessible, engaging, and factual way so that you can better connect with the public, funders, and decision-makers.

The Acropora cervicornis Data Coordination Hub, an Open Access Tool for Evaluating Coral Genotype Performance

Join Katie Eaton, Patrick Kiel and Dr. Ian Enochs to learn more about the Acropora cervicornis Data Coordination Hub, a web-accessible tool that allows comparison of coral genotype performance data from both field and lab-based studies, and across specialized metrics. By facilitating the comparability of genet-specific performance data, we will improve our capacity to make informed science-based restoration decisions at a larger scale. The workshop will involve a presentation and walkthrough of the tool, with time allotted for an open discussion on ways to further adapt the tool to the needs of restoration practitioners and researchers. Please feel free to bring your own computer to further explore the tool during the workshop.
