Keystone Heritage Park Wetlands

Mike Gaglio, founder of High Desert Native Plants, will be providing a tour of the Keystone Heritage Park Wetlands. Mike serves as the biology, botany, hydrology and wetlands advisor for this 58-acre wetland in the Rio Grande floodplain.

High Desert Native Plants Nursery

As the final segment of the Native Plant Propagation Workshop, Josh Johnson will be providing a tour of High Desert Natives and leading a hands-on plant propagation activity, followed by a seed cleaning workshop by Ed Kleiner. During this workshop, Josh will:

Highlight current nursery projects, including work with agave propagation through BCI grow initiative, seed germination approaches for desert-adapted species, and the tall-pot project.

Discuss/demonstrate propagation efforts through cuttings and transplants

Explain recent experiments in air layering

Showcase ongoing cactus propagation work.

Followed by seed cleaning 101 (the DIY version) with Ed Kleiner from Comstock Seed.

Come check out this native plant nursery which supports large scale restoration, sustainable residential gardens, and water harvesting projects throughout the region!

Bring sunscreen, water, and comfortable hiking shoes.
