Tulane Innovation Institute - Congratulations to Miller Dickerson, Philip Kucher, and Pedram Azizi-Hariri on winning the Tulane Innovation Institute's award honors for demonstrating societal impact or technology development commercialization potential through their Tulane Research, Innovation, and Creativity Summit (TRICS) posters at this year's event.
Welcome to TRICS 2025!
The 3rd annual Tulane Research, Innovation, and Creativity Summit (TRICS) was held at The Civic Theatre in downtown New Orleans from Wednesday, April 9th to Thursday, April 10th. The event showcased the breadth and depth of research, innovation, and creativity from disciplines, departments, units, and schools across Tulane University. Graduate students, undergraduate students, trainees (postdocs, residents, and fellows), faculty, and research staff presented their research, scholarship, and achievements. TRICS also included distinguished lectures, panel discussions, and affiliated workshops.
Keynote Speakers
We are pleased to announce Dr. Greg Buchert as the TRICS 2025 keynote speaker!

Greg Buchert, MD, MPH is the CEO for Makani Science, a company making an innovative wireless wearable continuous respiratory monitor. He has been an innovator and entrepreneur throughout his professional career. Greg supports healthcare innovation as an active investor through several angel investing groups and funds. He has over 25 years of C-Suite experience in health plan leadership roles and leverages that in his roles as a consultant and advisor to other startup companies. He is the former President and CEO of Blue Shield of California’s Promise Health Plan that serves over 500,000 Medicaid, Medicare and Dual Eligible members. He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer that launched Centene’s first Medicaid Managed Care Plan in California and later as Chief Medical Officer of HealthNet after its acquisition by Centene. Greg was a founding executive for CalOptima, a public managed care organization where he served as Chief Operating Officer and Medical Director.
His other positions include work as a Principal Consultant with Health Management Associates, a national healthcare consulting firm. Greg began his professional career as a pioneer in Pediatric Emergency Medicine serving in leadership positions at two children’s hospitals and as administrative director of a medical group. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and American Academy of Pediatrics. Greg has a passion for innovation, the expanded use of technology in healthcare, improving quality of care and health equity.
He lives in Southern California with his wife, Dr. Arline Tsuchiya another Tulane MD/MPH graduate, where he enjoys fitness activities and eating with passion.

Yes, we encourage attendees who require lodging to book with hotels located in downtown New Orleans, LA.
There are multiple paid parking lots in the surrounding area (including one lot directly across the street from The Civic Theater) as well as metered parking (enforced 8a - 7p, Monday through Saturday).
A Tulane shuttle will be circulating every 30 minutes from the Lavin-Bernick Center (LBC) and the School of Medicine (1430 Tulane Ave.) to The Civic Theater at no cost.
