For those submitting an artistic work, please include a summary of the work and artist's statement.

Fill out the Submission Form and upload a Word file of your abstract using this file naming convention: school - last name - first initial - abstract title - TRICS 2025.

Use Arial 11pt and limit to 500 words with no figures.

Include the title in BOLD UPPERCASE

List all authors using the format - Smith JQ, Jones AB, etc. and include all affiliations.

The first author's institution must be Tulane.

Statement of the premise in 2-4 sentences

Presentation of data

Reconciliation of data with premise in 2-4 sentences

Conclusion in 1-2 sentences

Funding acknowledgments (e.g., NEH#453)

Best Overall Poster: This award recognizes the poster that excels in all aspects, including content, organization, visual appeal, engagement, originality, and creativity. It highlights posters that effectively communicate complex ideas, engage viewers, and make significant contributions to the field or discipline. The winner gets a $200 prize.

Most Innovative Design: This award celebrates posters that showcase creativity and innovation in design, layout, and presentation techniques. It honors posters that stand out for their unique visual appeal, use of graphics, images, and other visual elements, as well as innovative approaches to conveying information. The winner gets a $100 prize.

Outstanding Research, Scholarship, or Creativity Award: This award recognizes posters that demonstrate exceptional contributions to research, scholarship, or creativity in their respective fields. It honors posters that showcase innovative research methodologies, rigorous analysis, and significant findings, as well as creativity in the presentation of ideas. This category celebrates posters that not only advance knowledge but also inspire new perspectives, challenge existing paradigms, and foster interdisciplinary dialogue. The winner gets a $100 prize.

Innovation and Societal Impact

The TRICS Innovation and Societal Impact award is a cash prize awarded to the graduate student or faculty poster that best illustrates how their research impacts society. Based on the National Science Foundation’s definition of Broader Impacts, societal impact could be related to:

• Inclusion

• Education

• Public Engagement

• Societal Well-Being

• Workforce Development

• Partnerships

• National Security

• Economic Competitiveness

• Infrastructure for Research/Education

• Other Justified Initiatives

Posters that wish to be considered for this should include a separate, clearly labeled section that indicates in what way this research has societal impact (see above list) and specific examples of how that is currently or will be realized in the future of the research program. Posters will be judged on the quality of these arguments, the degree of impact (people impacted, funds impacted), and their ability to clearly communicate impact to a general audience. Posters will be judged in a mix of internal Tulane and external experts.

Innovation and Technology Development

The TRICS Innovation and Technology Development award is a cash prize awarded to the graduate student or faculty poster that best illustrates how their research could successfully be commercialized through technology development. Posters that wish to be considered for this should include a separate, clearly labeled section that indicates in what way this research could be developed into a commercializable technology. This section should address:

• Market (dollars and/or individuals impacted)

• Technology differentiation and comparison to competitors

• Customer discovery strategy

• Technical development plan

Posters will be judged on these criteria and their ability to clearly communicate impact to a general audience. Posters will be judged in a mix of internal Tulane and external experts.

The TNPRC TRICS awards are cash prizes awarded to a Graduate student or Post-doctoral fellow currently at the TNPRC. Posters will be judged on the following criteria:

1. clarity of presentation

2. scientific content/originality

3. visual appeal and design

4. organization and structure

5. effectiveness of communication

Judges may also assess the presenter's ability to answer questions and engage with the audience.

There will be two prizes of $500 awarded.
