Twenty years ago, the sequencing of the first human genome ushered in a new era in health and life sciences. The initial promise of this ambitious project has been transformed into a veritable technological revolution, resulting in a staggering reduction in the cost and time of sequencing and an increasing capacity to manage and analyse massive quantities of data. But more than ever, these advances must be put to work for patients. In this panel, we will discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with the use of genomic data in precision medicine. Facilitator Stéphanie Lord-Fontaine Vice-president Scientific Affairs, Génome Québec Speakers Johanne Tremblay, PhD Professor of Medicine, Université de Montréal Researcher, Cardiometabolic Theme, CHUM Research Centre Guillaume Lettre, PhD Professor of Medicine, Université de Montréal Principal Investigator, Montreal Heart Institute Claude Bhérer PhD Assistant Professor, Department of Human Genetics, School of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health SciencesMcGill University

Core facilities provide the entire scientific community an access to specialized equipment, expertise and services. They play an essential role in enabling researchers to carry out research projects that would otherwise be too costly or technically difficult to undertake in individual laboratories. Since their emergence in the 90s, these facilities have evolved from small units based on a single instrument to institutionally managed mini-SMEs with several employees. What will tomorrow's developments and challenges be? What can we expect over the next 10 years? What will be the impact of AI tools and deep learning, for example, on the future development of the core facilities? These questions will be addressed by a panel of experts who will be sharing their vision of the future. Facilitator Anne-Marie Mes-Masson, PhD, FCAHS, FRSCCRCHUM et Institut du cancer de Montréal, Full professor, Département de médecine, Université de Montréal Speakers Marco Blouin, PhD Executive Director of Science and Partnerships, Ministère de l'Économie et de l'Innovation Mark Lagacé, PhD Director of ProgramsCanada Foundation for Innovation Laurence Lejeune, MSc Vice President, Canadian Network of Scientific Platforms Patrice Vaillancourt, MSc Manager of technological platforms, Centre de biologie translationnelle, Institut de recherche du Centre universitaire de santé McGill (IR-CUSM) Manon Valiquette, PhD Director - Scientific platform operations, IRIC, UdeM Valérie Villeneuve, PhDHead of scientific platforms, CR-Ste-Justine

2 parallel sessionsYale School of Public Health Biography : Dr. Altice is a Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and Public Health at Yale University where he serves as the Director of Clinical and Community Research, the Community Health Care Van and the HIV in Prisons Program. He leads several domestic and global health research initiatives, including in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Since 2004, he has been leading epidemiological, clinical trials and implementation research efforts to scale-up HIV treatment and prevention in Ukraine. This research has involved scale-up of opioid agonist therapies like methadone and buprenorphine, HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis, and TB treatment and prevention. His research is funded by the National Institutes of Health and has focused on implementation in addiction treatment, primary care, harm reduction and prison settings. The ongoing research efforts include disruptions to service delivery since the first invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2014, the COVID-19 pandemic and continue since the second invasion by Russia on February 24, 2022.

You do not present a research project to a private partner or a financial partner the same way you submit a grant application to a government program. You must plan your steps in advance and implement a personalized strategy. The workshop will present the right practices and strategies adapted to the different types of partners approached. Practical exercises are planned to boost learning. Prepare your 3-minute elevator pitch and the Coaches/Trainers will be able to comment and help you improve your approach at the end of the workshop.
