Panel Session 4A: Education in the time of permacrisis: The contribution of Global Education & Learning to peace and human rights

In 2023, the 194 UNESCO Member States agreed that building more peaceful, just, and sustainable societies starts with education. There are 14 guiding principles for how education may, can and will build the ideal world. At this time of multiple global and local crises due to climate change, conflicts and wars, increasing injustices, and a digital divide affecting millions of people, it seems idealistic to discuss the contribution of global citizenship education to human rights and peace. Therefore, this session asks leading experts what research informs about the ways in which global education and learning contribute to peace and human rights. Panel members Felisa Tibbitts Susanne Ress Alexis Stones Frederick Njobati Fondzenyuy Gregor Lang-Wojtasik Panel chair Elina Lehtomäki
