CASCA Gala: A celebratory evening at the Musée McCord
The ticket includes a drink and appetizers in the lovely atrium of the museum and free access to the Museum’s permanent exhibition: “Indigenous Voices of Today: Knowledge, Trauma, Resistance.” Indigenous Cultures Curator, Jonathan Lainey, will be available to guide visitors and answer questions. The exhibition bears witness to the still unrecognized knowledge of Indigenous peoples in Quebec and Canada as well as the deep wounds they carry and their incredible resilience. About one hundred carefully selected objects from the Museum’s Indigenous Cultures collection are combined with more than eighty powerful inspiring stories (texts and videos) from members of the 11 Indigenous nations in Quebec, shedding light on their knowledge and philosophies. They speak out about their suffering as well as their dreams and plans for a better future to help restore their health, which has been undermined by the process of assimilation.

Students, Postdocs, and Precariously employed individuals: $50

Learn about the high concentration of artists in the area. See a bunch of street art and murals with a licensed guide in the know. Get the skinny on how the Portuguese took over what was a Jewish neighbourhood and about the waves of immigration that affected the neighborhood. An enclave for students, stop in for a local third wave cold brew coffee along the way and check out where Scottish mansions were converted to affordable housing next to American style sororities. The tour comes with a recommendations list for the best eat, drink shop, art and play in Montréal.
