Post-Conference Deep Ecology Workshop with John Seed
June 27-29, 2025
Sliding Scale Fee: $75-$325 USD (depending on means)
COCE’s Post-Conference (27-29 June) is a Deep Ecology workshop facilitated by John Seed, rainforest activist and Australian father of the Deep Ecology movement (lead author, with Joanna Macy, Pat Fleming, and Arne Naess of Thinking Like a Mountain). Environmental communication scholar Tema Milstein will co-facilitate. The immersive experience will guide participants through Deep Ecology’s processes (The Mourning, The Remembering, The Grounding), comprised of the Council of All Beings (created by Seed and Macy) and other experiential activities designed to touch deeper than intellect and dispel the illusion of separation between humans and nature. The experience offers COCE goers opportunity to stretch themselves and generate community.
Spaces are limited! The post-conference retreat offers a simplified sliding scale for fees with two options: a full price of $325 USD and a discounted price of $75 USD. The discounted rate is reserved for students and individuals with limited means, such as those who are currently unemployed.
Vegetarian lunch provided Saturday and Sunday (with gluten free, vegan options). The postconference is in the conference venue, so participants can extend their conference lodging. The Workshop starts Friday, June 27, at 7:30 pm after people have had dinner elsewhere and finishes Sunday, June 29, at 4 pm (9 am start times Saturday and Sunday).
