Welcome to the registration for the Conference on Communication and Environment (COCE 2025)! Below on this page, you’ll find step-by-step guidelines to assist you through the registration process. Please note that the registration process will navigate you to the IECA website.
You can visit the Fees page for details on registration costs. Early bird registration will run until March 31, 2025.
Important:
• Presenters must acquire or renew their IECA membership for 2025 to register for COCE 2025.
• We strongly advise all COCE 2025 attendees to review visa requirements and processing times as early as possible. Visa applications can vary significantly based on your country of residence and the type of visa needed. For more visa information, please visit here.

Registrations are now open!
1. Graduate Student & Early Career Pre-Conference Works
Date: June 23, 2025 - Art Farm Birchs Bay
Fee: $35 USD
A day to network, explore a sculpture trail, engage with expert-led Q&A, and take part in interactive sessions. Includes a wine tasting before the official opening.
2. Post-Conference Deep Ecology Workshop
Dates: June 28-29, 2025
Sliding Scale Fee: $150-$600 AUD (depending on means)
Facilitated by John Seed and Tema Milstein, this immersive retreat will offer transformative deep ecology experiences, including the Council of All Beings.
Note: The payment for this post-conference event will be processed in Australian Dollars (AUD), not US Dollars (USD).
3. Excursion: Next Stop Antarctica
Date: Wednesday, 25 June 2025
1.00-3.30pm
Fee: $20 USD
Engage with Hobart’s deep Antarctic connections—from historical expeditions and industries to contemporary research and tourism—before heading to the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington to reflect on Tasmania’s glaciated past and its role as a gateway to the Southern Ocean.
4. Nature walk with the Tasmanian Land Conservancy
Date: Wednesday, 25 June 2025
1.00-4.30pm
Fee: $20 USD
Discover conservation in action at Tinderbox Hills Reserve, home to the endangered forty-spotted pardalote and a model for land restoration and community engagement.
5. Hobart Rivulet Walk
(No cost)
Date: Wednesday, 25 June 2025
1.30-3.30pm
This free excursion gives you an opportunity to spot a platypus and see the home of Tasmanian beer. This easy walk follows Hobart Rivulet upstream from the city to the foothills of kunanyi / Mount Wellington.
Carbon Offset Contribution
As part of our commitment to sustainability, a portion of the net proceeds from COCE 2025 will be donated to the Tasmanian Land Conservancy (TLC). This organization protects Tasmania’s unique ecosystems by purchasing and managing private land. Your participation in COCE 2025 will directly support these conservation efforts.
