CONTEST
Nine awards, including six cash prizes, will be presented to students for their outstanding performance in oral and poster presentations.
- Two $350 awards for best oral presentation
- Three $250 awards for best poster presentation
- One $100 award for best poster presentation of an early stage project (no results)
- People's Choice Award – Oral presentation
- People's Choice Award – Poster presentation.
- CMOS Award ($150) for the best poster presentation in physical oceanography or meteorology
QUALIFYING FOR THE COMPETITION
In order to qualify for a cash prize, you must:
- Be a MSc or PhD candidate and a member of Québec-Océan
- Present your research project: without results for 1st-yr MSc students; with research results for all other presenters
- Make sure that your presentation complies with all presentation rules (see To Participate)
- Present your poster to jury members and answer their questions during the virtual Poster sessions.
In order to qualify for the Public Choice Award, you must:
- Present a research project relevant to Québec-Océan’s scientific program
- Make sure that your presentation complies with all presentation rules (see To Participate)
- Present your poster to all participants and answer their questions during the Poster session
- All participants will receive, by email, a link to vote for their favourite presentation.
EVALUATION PROCESS
Selected Québec-Océan members form the evaluation panel that will examine the merits of oral and poster presentations based on the following criteria:
- Scientific: The research project is top notch and original
- Didactic: The written and oral demonstrations are clear and efficient
- Visual: the presentation is well-balanced an easy to follow
