CONTEST

Nine awards, including six cash prizes, will be presented to students for their outstanding performance in oral and poster presentations.

  • Two $350 awards for best oral presentation
  • Three $250 awards for best poster presentation
  • One $100 award for best poster presentation of an early stage project (no results)
  • People's Choice Award – Oral presentation
  • People's Choice Award – Poster presentation.
  • CMOS Award ($150) for the best poster presentation in physical oceanography or meteorology

QUALIFYING FOR THE COMPETITION

In order to qualify for a cash prize, you must:

  • Be a MSc or PhD candidate and a member of Québec-Océan
  • Present your research project: without results for 1st-yr MSc students; with research results for all other presenters
  • Make sure that your presentation complies with all presentation rules (see To Participate)
  • Present your poster to jury members and answer their questions during the virtual Poster sessions.

In order to qualify for the Public Choice Award, you must:

  • Present a research project relevant to Québec-Océan’s scientific program
  • Make sure that your presentation complies with all presentation rules (see To Participate)
  • Present your poster to all participants and answer their questions during the Poster session
  • All participants will receive, by email, a link to vote for their favourite presentation.

EVALUATION PROCESS

Selected Québec-Océan members form the evaluation panel that will examine the merits of oral and poster presentations based on the following criteria:

  • Scientific: The research project is top notch and original
  • Didactic: The written and oral demonstrations are clear and efficient
  • Visual: the presentation is well-balanced an easy to follow

Poster Contest participants must be present at each virtual poster session.
