CONTEST
Nine awards, including six cash prizes, will be presented to students for their outstanding performance in oral and poster presentations.
● Two $350 awards for best oral presentation
● Three $250 awards for best poster presentation
● One $100 award for best poster presentation of an early-stage project (no results)
● People's Choice Award – Oral presentation
● People's Choice Award – Poster presentation.
● CMOS Award ($150) for the best poster presentation in physical oceanography or meteorology
ELIGIBILITY FOR CONTESTS
To be eligible for a cash prize, you must:
● Be a master's or doctoral student and a member of Québec-Océan
● Present your study project with no results for first-year master's students or with results for all others
● Respect the rules of presentation (see To present)
● Present your poster to the jury members and answer their questions during the virtual poster sessions.
To be eligible for a People's Choice Award, you must:
● Present a research project that is part of the Québec-Ocean scientific program
● Respect the rules of presentation (see To present)
● Present your poster to the participants and answer their questions during the virtual poster sessions
● All participants will receive an email on the last day of the ASM with a link to vote for their favorite among all oral and poster presentations.
PRESENTATION EVALUATIONS
The jury, composed of members of Quebec-Ocean, will evaluate the eligible presentation and posters according to the following qualities:
● Scientific: originality and excellence of the research
● Didactic: clarity and effectiveness of the written and oral demonstration
● Visual: readability and balance of presentation.
Poster contestants must be present during their virtual poster session.
The evaluation grids used by the jury are available for consultation:
