The Association québécoise des intervenants auprès des personnes amputées (AQIPA) and the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) de la Capitale-Nationale invite you to the seminar One Step Ahead: An integrated Approach to Rehabilitation of People with Lower Limb Loss. This event will take place on May 5 and 6, 2023 at Université Laval in Quebec City (in person only).
This seminar brings together all the actors involved in rehabilitation care with the purpose of meeting, learning and networking with members of several rehabilitation centers.
Main objective
This seminar aims to train more than 120 health professionals in the field of rehabilitation across Canada, by presenting them with innovative scientifically supported practices in the rehabilitation of people with lower limb amputations. This training aims to develop the practices and interventions of rehabilitation professionals who intervene with low- to moderately high activity amputees in order to improve the quality of care offered to this clientele.
Target audiences
The seminar is intended for health network professionals in the in the rehabilitation area who work with a clientele of tibial and femoral amputees, such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, prosthetists, physical rehabilitation therapists, rehabilitation physicians, physiatry residents, etc. Professionals from Quebec and the other provinces are welcomed.
Professor
Robert Gailey, PhD. PT, FAPTA has some of the most outstanding amputee rehabilitation expertise in the field. This is the first time that we welcome this imminent trainer for this seminar in Quebec.

Course of the seminar
Held over two days, the seminar format will promote knowledge sharing through theoretical presentations on rehabilitation and demonstrations of gait training. The training will be offered in English. A simultaneous French translation service will be set up. Thus, each participant will be able to follow the training in the language of their choice. In addition, a networking activity will encourage dialogue between professionals in rehabilitation. Finally, participants will have the chance to meet distributors from the field of health and rehabilitation.

Insofar as the health situation allows it on May 5 and 6, 2023, the seminar is planned face-to-face at Université Laval, where the trainer and a limited number of participants will be able to attend the event.
