ClostPath 2023

ClostPath 13 Conference Booklets

Below you can find the ClostPath 13 conference book that has all abstracts and speaker bios, etc. Also, a shortened version with only the conference schedule.

Welcome, everyone. We are excited to invite you to attend and participate in the 13th International Conference on the Molecular Biology and Pathogenesis of Clostridia (ClostPath 2023). The ClostPath conferences, which began in 1995, have been a leading venue to bring together top scientists and clinicians studying the molecular biology of clostridia and their role in health and disease. In keeping with this tradition, Clostpath 13 will cover all aspects of clostridia-dependent pathogenesis and will take place September 19 - 23, 2023, at The Banff Center in Banff, Alberta Canada - located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.

In addition to two poster sessions where scientific ideas and results can be disseminated through more informal interactions, the program will contain the following sessions:

  • Keynote Address
  • Gene Regulation
  • One Health
  • -omics
  • Treatments / Healthcare
  • Physiology
  • Microbiome
  • Toxins
  • Spores
  • Microbe - Microbe Interactions
  • Virulence Factors (Junior Scientist Session)
  • Host Response to Infection

The scientific program of Clostpath 13 will include lectures by internationally recognized leaders in clostridial research and clinical practice. In addition to state-of-the-art invited talks on the most recent and exciting discoveries in the field, short oral contributions will be selected from submitted abstracts. Poster presentations will give attendees the opportunity to discuss their ongoing work with a broad audience in line with the goal to bring together basic science with clinical and translational research issues.

The conference aims to present the most recent and exciting work in the field from invited speakers as well as from contributors whose submitted abstracts have been selected by our International Scientific Steering Committee. In addition to scientific excellence, the committee has a longstanding commitment to ensuring a diverse panel of speakers in terms of gender, geography, race/ethnicity, and scientific interest. Interactive, cutting-edge poster sessions will provide attendees with the opportunity to share their work with a broad audience, generate new ideas, and foster cross-disciplinary conversations. Attendees are encouraged to submit abstracts on their most recent or as yet unpublished work.

A major objective of ClostPath is to provide a forum for trainees (students and postdoctoral fellows) to share their work, discuss their data with leading scientists, and train and inspire the next generation of clostridial researchers. Preceding the main conference on Tuesday, September 19, a Pre-ClostPath Meeting for Young Scientists will allow trainees to network with their peers. Moreover, a Junior Scientist Session will spotlight the exciting work by our junior colleagues.

We're excited to see you Sept. 19 - 23 in Banff, Canada for ClostPath 2023!

Sincerely,

Joe Sorg Texas A&M University Department of Biology

Casey Theriot North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine

Roman Melnyk Department of Biochemistry, University of Toronto
