ICOP 2024 Host location

Whitehorse, Yukon Territory

Yukon lies north of the 60th parallel, adjacent to British Columbia to the south, Northwest Territories to the east, and Alaska, USA, to the west. Yukon, well known for its rich natural environment and endless possibilities for outdoor activities, has a variety of permafrost conditions to explore.

Whitehorse, the capital of Yukon Territory, is the largest northern city in Canada, with a population of nearly 30,000. Today, 11 of the 14 Yukon First Nations have signed their Self-Government agreements. They are responsible for their resource management, economic and social programs, combining traditional activities on the land with entrepreneurial and administrative skills in businesses, government and tourism. Visitors are extended a warm welcome when they visit the local First Nations cultural centres and festivals across the territory, including;

Indigenous People's Day June 21, 2024
The Adaka Cultural Festival (2024 dates TBD)
Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre, Whitehorse

We encourage you to explore Yukon as part of your stay!
