Oncology Conference - Pr Hugues de Thé

Hugues de Thé is Professor of Cellular and Molecular Oncology at the College de France and physician at St-Louis Hospital in Paris. His research focuses on the involvement of genetic rearrangement of PML-RARA in acute promyelocytic leukemia. His work has enabled the development of new specific therapies for this type of leukemia and has greatly improved the knowledge of several fundamental biological concepts. Over the years, Prof. de Thé has published more than 250 manuscripts, in some of the most prestigious journals in the world. He also received several prodigious distinctions such as: - Sjöberg Award of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 2018 - Ernest Beutler Award of the American Society of Hematology in 2016 - Carreras Award of the European Society of Hematology in 2014 - The French Legion of Honour in 2010 - Member of the Académie des Sciences since 2011.

Sylvain Chemtob is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Ophthalmology and Pharmacology at Université de Montréal. In particular, he has a research chair in perinatology. As a neonatologist, his research is focused on pathophysiological mechanisms that cause morbidities to premature births. His research has contributed to the knowledge in this field and the development of new pharmacological treatments. He has published more than 250 manuscripts in renowned journals. He has also won many prestigious awards including: - Acfas Léo-Pariseau award in 2019 - Michel Sarrazin Award in 2019, awarded by the Club de Recherches Cliniques du Québec - Award of excellence in pediatric research by pediatric directors of Canada in 2013 - Pediatric Research Career Researcher Award of the Fondations des étoiles in 2012.
