UNE NOUVELLE SOCIÉTÉ DE VALORISATION ET DE TRANSFERT DU QUÉBEC POUR MAXIMISER LES RETOMBÉES DE LA RECHERCHE PUBLIQUE

La Société de valorisation et de transfert du Québec (SVTQ), mise sur pied par le Gouvernement du Québec, a pour mission d’accroître la valorisation de la recherche publique par le transfert technologique et la structuration de la valorisation des innovations sociales dans toutes les régions du Québec, afin de maximiser les impacts sociaux et économiques des résultats de la recherche. Appuyée par un financement accru et un nouveau fonds de préamorçage d’entreprises, c’est toute la chaîne d’innovation qui sera solidifiée, au bénéfice de l’essor de la société québécoise. Indubitablement, elle fera de la recherche publique un véritable vecteur de développement économique, industriel et social !

Ce nouvel organisme à but non lucratif prendra la relève des sociétés de valorisation de la recherche existantes (c.-⁠à-⁠d. Aligo, SOVAR et Univalor), à partir du 1er avril 2021, en vue d’offrir ses services d’expertise et d’accompagnement à tous les établissements de recherche publique du Québec

Projet FMSS-Alumni : What happened to the PhDs students of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of UdeS? (Presented in French) Presented by Simon Boudreault, MsC, PhD student at l’Université de Sherbrooke A few decades ago, undertaking doctoral studies represented a commitment to an academic career, often as a professor / university researcher. In the 21st century, the doctorate has evolved into a degree sought after by many employers outside the university walls, although most students are not fully aware of the opportunities available after their PhD. In order to help doctoral students to better understand job opportunities and to orient doctoral training according to possible openings, we have retraced the professional path of 87% of the 480 PhD graduates at the Faculty of Medicine and Sciences of Health of the University of Sherbrooke between 2000 and 2018. This data, collected according to the model of the "10.000 PhDs Project" of the University of Toronto, allows us to assess the diversity of jobs held by our doctoral students as well as improve doctoral training to prepare graduates more adequately for their future jobs.
