Northern Travel Fund

Peoples and northerners to participate at ArcticNet’s annual conferences who would otherwise not have had this opportunity. Strong Indigenous representation at our conferences enhances the overall ASM experience as all greatly benefit from the diversity of voices and perspectives on Arctic issues and research.
Inuk land claim member
To nominate an Inuk land claim member, visit the ITK Inuit Travel Fund site for details.
Submissions will be accepted until October 1st .
Member of an Indigenous community or Northerner
To be eligible for the Northern Travel Fund, members of an Indigenous community or Northerners must meet the following criteria:
Criteria and eligibility
Being a registered member of a specific Indigenous community or Northerner (First Nation, Métis, Northerner non-indigenous)
Minimum age of 21 years old
Alternate project funding is not available to cover all travel costs
Estimated funding required is not expected to surpass $ 5,000
Process and timeline
Application forms must be submitted by a nominator or the applicant no later than October 14, 2025 https://arcticnet.formstack.com/forms/asm2025_ntf
Funding is limited, thus applications will be reviewed with an emphasis on motivation and degree of reliable capacity to travel to Calgary.
The review committee will be contacting applicants by October 22nd at the latest.
Payment schedule and process will be determined based on the particular context of each award.
Terms & Conditions
Applicants must agree with these terms & conditions when filling out the form; nominators must inform the applicant they are required to agree to:
Calgary accommodations will be at the Marriott Downtown Hotel;
return any funds forwarded by ArcticNet in the event they can no longer attend the conference
be responsive to emails or other communication with the NTF administrator regarding planning and executing travel logistics;
have all required travel documentation in order prior to applying to the Northern Travel Fund (valid ID);
ensure final reimbursement requests through invoicing or a Travel Claim will be submitted with electronic copies of invoices no later than January 25, 2026.
