Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to: · Outline the historical and philosophical context of our medical system that has contributed to the concept of “medical clearance”. · Identify the limitations of the practice of "medical clearance". · Recognize "medical stability for psychiatric admission" as a dynamic process that accounts for clinical and infrastructural factors. · Apply evidence-based and infrastructural considerations to formulate an approach to assessing medical stability for psychiatric admission from your particular ED to a particular Psychiatry service.
